ArtHouses

ArtHouses is an annual event in which the homes, gardens and public spaces of Whitley Bay become the venue for contemporary visual art. Through hosting artworks in people’s homes, ArtHouses develops unique situations to exhibit and experience artworks.

It is an artist led project which offers new situations to develop and present artworks, engaging new audiences with contemporary arts practice and contributing to the sense of community in Whitley Bay. The event gives a vibrant focus to the conversations between artists and householders hosting the works, who become advocates for the artwork, enabling them to share it with a wider public during the event.

Since 2017 Sophie has led on the project alongside a team of artists. For all information on the project and event please visit arthouses.net
