In August 2018 I spent a week working in the Women’s Artists of the North East Library exhibition at Workplace Gallery, Gateshead.
Using the context of the exhibition and material of the library archive as material, alongside my own artwork and material, I placed scans and copies drawn from these into the exhibition; a process of composition which expanded ways in which both the library and my artwork can be read. I subsequently re-placed scans of this wall montage back on the wall as part of the exhibition and for an event with Tess Denman- Cleaver and Nicola Singh.
Using these processes of translation, reproduction and appropriation allowed me to offer ways to work with the library as a material to be tested, read and dispersed. Scans of the wall montage are available here for you to download and print.
